David's Bridal and Blue's Fish & Soul Announce Permanent Closure

It isn't pleasant to hear about businesses shutting down, and that is why we share with great disappointment that three different establishments are closing their doors in Santa Clarita.

Blue's Fish & Soul and David's Bridal have announced their permanent closures.

With rising inflation costs, businesses and consumers alike struggle to rectify pending haits. It has become increasingy difficult to justify spending on restaraunts and luxurious consumer goods.

Consumer prices have gone up 7.5% in the last year. According to the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), prices in the Los Angeles region rose another 0.6% in October, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Food costs increased by 7.8%. Due primarily to an increase in the cost of gasoline, energy prices increased by 23.8%. The index for all goods minus food and energy went up 6.0% since 2021.

For the third consecutive month, Americans' overall monthly spending intentions—i.e., how much they anticipate spending in the coming month—have decreased. According to statistics from the U.S. Departmnent of Commerce, planned pullbacks are strongest across more discretionary categories, but they also exist across less discretionary categories.

Many factors play into why or why not a business shuts its doors like its quality and brand establishment. We shouldn't blame business closure on consumer spending, but it is an interesting parallel to observe.
